Short Biography Mr. Umejima has addressed research on energy and mobile communication systems and entrepreneurial education in Keio University, the oldest private university in Japan, in allying with the Asian-wide university network, named SOI Asia.
In addition to contributing academic research and education, Mr. Umejima is a councilor of ECHONET Consortium that manages ECHONET Lite(ISO/IEC14543-4-3) as an Japan made international and open standard to provide network access to all home appliances such as an air conditioner and a power meter.
As same as when the huge earthquake with Tsunami attacked Japan on March 11, 2011, Mr. Umejima was appointed to Deputy Chairman of Smart House and Building Committee, Japan Smart Community Alliance (JSCA) that aimed to make a recovery of big energy lose due to Fukushima Nuclear Accident. In JSCA, Mr. Umejima has consulted with the technical specification for the nationwide power meter installation in Japan.
In 2017, over 6 million air conditioners (70% in the nationwide sales in Japan) were ready to connect with the internet by speaking ECHONET lite.
Mr. Umejima was appointed to senior advisor in National Advanced IPv6 Centre Malaysia (Nav 6) in 2014, Councilor in ECHONET Consortium, and Visiting Professor in Malaysia University of Science and Technology(MUST).
Mr. Umejima was awarded to IPv6 world leader 2015 by IPv6 Forum and Echonet Prize 2017 by EHONET Consortium
